The Program Committee plans to attract a range of international speakers, experts in their field and with practical experience in Survivorship, Capacity Building, and Peer Support in different cultures and resource settings.

Annette Stanton Photo Dr. Annette Stanton, PhD

UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center

Dr. Annette Stanton's research centers on specifying factors that help and hinder individuals as they adjust to health-related adversity. She is interested in testing theories of stress and coping and related conceptual models in individuals and couples confronting cancer, reproductive problems and other stressors.

Mollie Williams, MPH

Director Community Health Programs - Susan G. Komen for the Cure

At Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Mollie oversees the grantmaking of the 122 Komen for the Cure U.S. Affiliates, totaling over $80 million annually. In her role, she manages a team of professionals who provide training and technical assistance to the Affiliates to help them be responsible and effective grant makers. She also provides expertise in the areas of needs assessment, partnership development, and large-scale community health strategies.

Mary Onyango, Executive Director - Kenya Breast Health Programme

A breast cancer survivor and founder member of the Kenya Breast Health Programme, Mary was appointed Executive Director in 2003 and has since developed it into a successful advocacy organization, bringing it to National and International recognition. Breast cancer has gained national recognition in Kenya leading to the formation of the Breast Cancer Working Group by the Ministry of Health to identify the gaps in healthcare and develop a National Program and Guidelines to standardize Breast and Cervical Healthcare in all medical facilities in the country.

MP House of Representatives, Cyprus

A two-time breast cancer survivor and past president of Europa Donna, Stella currently serves as president of Europa Donna Cyprus and is an elected member of Cyprus Parliament. She has been a breast cancer activist for more than a decade, presenting at and contributing to numerous international conferences and committees, in addition to establishing many breast cancer programs and initiatives in Cyprus.

Clinical and research interests in the promotion of wellness for patients with cancer, and the impact of advanced cancer on patients and their families. Extensive experience in education of health professionals about the psychosocial aspects of cancer, including facilitating communication skills training workshops. Title: “But I’m too young to have breast cancer! Responding to the needs of younger women and their families”

Jill Margo (AM), Journalist

Australian Financial Review

Walkley Award-winning Australian Financial Review columnist is internationally recognised for her work on prostate cancer, received runner-up at the 2006 Luminous Awards for her weekly account of how a local businessman overcame prostate cancer. The international award recognises “enlightened, intelligent and inspiring” reporting in the field of oncology. In 2006 Margo won two national awards for her series on prostate cancer, and was named health journalist of the year by the National Press Club. She has 10 national awards and two international awards, awarded the Order of Australia (AM) in June 2006. Author of two other books including Living On, a guide to living on in the thoughts and memories of those you love.

Dr. Jeff Dunn Professor Jeff Dunn PhD

CEO The Cancer Council Queensland

Professor Jeff Dunn PhD maintains a particular interest in supportive care for cancer patients and holds Professorial appointments with the University of Queensland’s Faculty of Social and Behavioural Science and James Cook University’s Faculty of Public Health, Tropical Medicine and Rehabilitation Sciences. Jeff and is actively involved in research on supportive care, publishing in the area and frequently speaking at national and international events, meetings and conferences. Jeff serves on numerous advisory and planning committees for The Cancer Council Australia, is currently the UICC’s Strategic Leader for Capacity Building and Supportive Care, and is Adviser to The Reach to Recovery International Breast Cancer Support Service. Jeff is also the Chair of the UICC’s Asia Pacific Cancer Society Training Grants Programme (APCASOT).
